5 Ways | The festival opens with 5 Ways, specially composed by Lawrence Reed and featuring local school children and the church bells. 5 WaysThe 2010 Larkhall Festival kicks off at midday in and around the New Oriel Hall with a celebration of sounds inspired by Larkhall. Local composer Lawrence Reed has designed the event in collaboration with the participants to create 5 distinct layers of sound. St Saviour's junior school are recording sounds of the village and reflecting them back from a variety of sources including Bath's famous pink milk float! St Saviour's infants will be creating a series of rhythmic chants inspired by Larkhal. This will all accompanied by pulsating percussion including the use of junk and other objects found in the village. The schools will be joined by local musicians and the Cube Orchestra playing a piece of music composed for the event and the marvellous bells of St Saviour's church will be ringing something different ... including an awesome 'firing' of the bells. Everyone is welcome to join in. To find out more and how to get involved go to www.lawrencereed.com/events02.php |
